OUR NEXT AUDITION:
Sunday, January 27, 2013
at Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church
3307 Rea Road, Charlotte, NC 28226
FAMILY IS FAMILY
by Kathy Larson
Available Roles:
* Please note: this audition is for adults and teenagers only (13+). The children’s roles (Holly, Sarah, and Millie) will be filled by personal invitation.
George (40s - 50s) - single dad with 5 kids - 2 teenagers, 1 pre-teen, and 2 younger kids. George was widowed a few years ago and is just now “getting back on the horse” in the dating world, while dealing with a difficult situation at work and struggling to raise 5 kids on his own.
Dave (40s-60s) - George’s wacky brother. He’s a goof ball, kind of a train wreck personal life wise, but he helps out with the kids a lot, and really challenges George to be a good man.
Shelley (40s-50s) - George’s widow’s best friend. Single, but not at all interested in dating George. Helps out with the kids and is a great friend to George.
* other roles for adult women: there are several small parts for women George dates
Jessie (16ish) - George’s oldest. She’s the “perfect child,” but is hiding a wild side from everyone.
Hayden (16ish) - Jessie’s boyfriend. He’s part of the wild side.
* other teen roles: there are several roles for Jessie and Hayden’s friends, both guys and girls
Brad (14ish) - George’s second oldest. Brad is figuring out who he wants to be and pushing a lot of boundaries.
Holly (11) - The middle child. Nothing’s ever fair.
Sarah (9) - The pensive one. Sometimes you wonder how such an old soul lives in a 9 year old body.
Millie (6) - The baby. Spoiled rotten by all of them. Doesn’t really remember her mother at all.
Morgan (20s-30s, currently written as a female, could be tweaked to be a guy) - Jessie’s youth leader at church.
Performance Dates: Saturday, May 4 at 7:00 pm, Sunday, May 5 at 4:00 pm
Rehearsal Dates: Sunday afternoons, February 10-April 28 (not everyone will rehearse every week, rehearsals are staggered by scenes; we will work with your schedule); additional rehearsals the week of performance, most likely Wednesday night, May 1, Thursday night, May 2, and/or Friday night, May 3.
